For burner and burner control work, different rules exist for different fuels. The rules for natural gas and propane are similar. In many areas a gas and propane tradesman must have a specific ticket to show his level of training for working on burners of different sizes. The rules for oil are covered in another body of rules, usually a fire code of one type or another. In many areas it is necessary to have a special license or ticket to work on the boiler body and piping. This is separate from a gas license. It is the equipment owner's right to ensure that the agency he employs is correctly licensed and trained, and that certified personnel are holding the wrenches. Do not be shy about asking for their credentials. Refer to your local boiler and gas safety offices for the standards. If you ask us, we'll help you to make the best choice.
